Why are my prayer times slightly different from my mosque?
Prayer times are calculated from your location using the calculation method and madhab you choose. Different authorities use slightly different angles and conventions. In the App, open Settings โ Calculation method and choose the one your local mosque follows, and use manual adjustments to fine-tune each prayer if needed.
The Qibla compass seems off.
Calibrate your phone by moving it in a figure-8 motion a few times, keep it away from metal and magnets, and make sure location permission is enabled. The compass uses your device's magnetic sensor, which needs occasional calibration.
I'm not receiving the Athan / prayer notifications.
Please make sure notifications are allowed for Noorah, and that battery optimization is turned off for the App (some devices โ Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Samsung โ aggressively limit background apps). In the App, enable the reminders you want under Settings โ Notifications, and allow the App to run in the background and use exact alarms.
How do I change the language?
Noorah follows your device language automatically and supports English, Bahasa Indonesia, Arabic, Urdu, Bengali, Turkish, and French. You can also pick a language in Settings.
How do I choose the muezzin / Athan sound?
Open Settings โ Athan and select your preferred voice and sound for each prayer.
Why does the App show ads, and are they appropriate?
Ads keep Noorah free for everyone. We instruct our ad partners to exclude categories inappropriate for our audience, such as gambling, alcohol, and dating. If you ever see an ad that seems inappropriate, please email us a screenshot at support@noorah.app and we'll work to block it.
How is my privacy handled?
Your location is used on-device to calculate prayer times and Qibla and is not stored on our servers. See our full Privacy Policy for details and your choices.
How do I request data deletion or exercise my privacy rights?
Email support@noorah.app with your request. Since Noorah has no account system, most data is held on your device or by our ad partners; we'll guide you through the relevant options.
